My Table Talk: Bufala River District – Dinner Edition

Even though we came in closer to closing (classic of me and Rayene), the space still felt warm and welcoming – soft and bright lighting, the low hum of the kitchen settling down, and the comforting smell of wood-fired pizza filling the room.

There is something magical about a restaurant in its quiet hour. No rush, no clatter: just a cozy and slowed down version of itself. The end-of-day energy was soft and made dinner feel extra intimate. Absolutely perfect for a mellow date night or late dinner when you want good food without the crowd,

What we ordered:

  • Margherita  Pizza
  • Spaghetti Carbonara
  • Quattro Formaggi Arancini
  • Salted Cucumber Collins

The Margherita Pizza is a classic. The flavourful tomato sauce and thin, crispy crust brings me so much joy. The Spaghetti Carbonara is a brunch item that isn’t available after 2pm on weekends, but our waiter was kind enough to request it from the kitchen during our late night meal. The Carbonara was creamy and perfectly salty – the embodiment of comfort itself. The Arancini was incredible, and was the perfect texture: soft enough to feel every grain coated in all the cheese, and met with a crispy exterior. The Salted Cucumber Collins was the star of dinner (and Rayene’s favourite part of the night!). It is definitely a unique and intriguing mix that initially had my brow raised. The drink is a refreshing blend that just works!

Even though it was nearing closing, the staff were incredibly kind, no rushed energy, no hint of “please leave” (we’ve all felt that one before). Our server was warm, patient, and made great recommendations. It felt relaxed and genuinely welcoming

Bufala River District feels like a restaurant you tuck into your list of “reliable comfort spots”. Even in its calm, end-of-day version, it delivered warmth, flavour, and that soft unwinding energy I love.
